Dwarfed

by Maha Nasrallah

In this publication inspired by her “Beirut Urban Ruins” series, Maha Nasrallah singles out abandoned traditional buildings that have been “dwarfed” and overwhelmed by the aggressiveness of their surroundings. The drawings are presented in a folded leporello format, creating an imaginary landscape of beautifully coloured abandoned houses within a ghostly city of tall modern buildings. The drawings are part of a series of watercolor sketches of abandoned houses that she has been compulsively making since mid-2016, and this publication completes the art prints and posters collections previously released by Plan BEY, covering the districts of Clemenceau, Hamra, Ain el-Mreisseh & Manara.
